Job Summary:

The Sr. Safety/Hazmat Technician is responsible for the control of all hazardous materials in the laboratory, including the monitoring of waste collection and storage systems. Responsible for safety over site for laboratory staff. Primary location will be at the Mansfield MA facility with periodic work at the Westborough MA location as needed.

Requirements:

Education: BS/BA in Environmental Health and Safety or related field of study. Experience may be substituted for educational requirements

Experience: 3+ years Desired Certifications:

• RCRA Hazardous Waste Management DOT Hazardous Materials HAZWOPER (8hr) First Aid/CPR Desired Characteristics:
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent oral, written, communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
• Must be highly motivated, able to work independently, and follow proscribed methods and direction.
• Working Knowledge of applicable DOT, EPA/DEP, and OSHA regulations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Hazardous and non-hazardous sample disposal Sample archive cleaning and maintenance Hazardous waste packaging, shipment prep and manifest maintenance.

2. Meticulous record keeping.

3. Report unsafe practices of laboratory personnel Inspect all facility areas for safety and hazardous waste compliance.

4. Provide Hazard Communication training.

5. Participate in the Lean Program

Minimum Required Skills:

1. While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms.

2. The position involves sitting, kneeling, walking and lifting up to 50 pounds with or without assistance throughout the day

3. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds using available material handling equipment

4. Competence in MS Office
