Program Description 

The Brownfields Program within the state of Pennsylvania is rich with stories of success when it comes to the planning and re-use of industrial sites.  Having a vision and the fortitiude to engage in a Brownfields redevelopment project can be a daunting and exhaustive task.  With the most recent updates to the PADEP Land Recycling Program Technical Guidance Manual (TGM) for Vapor Intrusion into Buildings from Groundwater and Soil under Act 2 (final November 2016), recognizing and understanding  how these new guidlines will impact a Brownfields Redevelopment site is critical for the timely completion of successful projects.

Alpha Analytical has assembled a team of experts from regulatory, consulting, legal and testing industries for this half-day session which will address and educate current and future practitioners on the PA Brownfields program, regulations, methodologies, funding, best practices, laboratory requirements and legal ramifications associated with vapor intrusion.

Emerging Contaminants Seminar

Program Description 

Emerging contaminants such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), 1,4-dioxane and perchlorate are being widely discussed in the media as well as the environmental community.   Many states have been taking the lead in drafting policies and regulations, and as such there are differing requirements in terms of analytical methodology, target compound lists, regulatory standards, detection limits, etc.  This presentation will focus on the history of emerging contaminants, overviews of the evolving regulatory and scientific landscape, potential sources, legal ramifications, results of a recent NY State pilot study and the analytical method options that are available to address them.

Alpha Analytical has assembled a team of experts for this half-day session which will address and educate current and future practitioners as it relates to the challenges faced when confronted with emerging contaminants.

Annual International Conference on Soils, Sediments, Water, & Energy

October 16-19, 2017 in Amherst, MA 
The Annual Conference on Soils, Sediments, Water and Energy, at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst has become the preeminent national conference in this important environmental area. National Brownfields Training Conference

December 5-7, 2017 in Pittsburgh, PA

In 1996, a cross-section of stakeholders came together in Pittsburgh for the very first federally co-sponsored National Brownfields Training Conference. Now more than two decades later, Brownfields 2017 is coming back to the city where the cleanup and redevelopment movement started.

Cosponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), the National Brownfields Training Conference will take place December 5-7, 2017, with pre-conference workshops on December 4th, in Pittsburgh, PA at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Offered every two years, the conference is the largest gathering of stakeholders focused on cleaning up and reusing formerly utilized commercial and industrial properties.
