VPH Analysis by the Updated GC/PID-FID Method

Alpha is fully compliant with the MassDEP’s required updates to the "Method for the Determination of Volatile Petroleum Hydrocarbons (VPH) by Gas Chromatography/Photoionization Detector/Flame Ionization Detector" effective February 2018 (Revision 2.1) and its associated WSC-CAM-IVA, "Quality Control Requirements and Performance Standards for the Analysis of Volatile Petroleum Hydrocarbons (VPH) by Gas Chromatography/Photoionization Detector/Flame Ionization Detector in Support of Response Actions under the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP)", effective June 1, 2018.
 
As of June 1, 2018 the MassDEP requires all laboratories performing this VPH method to fully implement all required changes.
 
Alpha Analytical also offers the new GC/MS VPH -- “Method for the Determination of Volatile Petroleum Hydrocarbons (VPH) by Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometry; January, 2017”.  This new GC/MS VPH method does not replace the original GC/PID-FID VPH method, Alpha continues to offer VPH analysis by both methodologies.  The GC/MS VPH does represent another option for VPH analysis however, and as such there are some advantages to the new method, depending on your project application.
