U.S. EPA Requires ASTM-E1527-13 Effective October 6, 2015
Effective October 6, 2015, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), will accept ASTM-E1527-13 as the only acceptable standard for all Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments (Phase 1 ESAs) performed as part of All Appropriate Inquiry (AAI).
ASTM-E1527-13 is performed as part of the requirements outlined in AAI actions associated with liability protections under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA).
ASTM-E1527-13 replaces ASTM-E1527-05 which will now be discontinued as a standard for Phase 1 ESAs. ASTM-E1527-13 provides more stringent requirements and requires a thorough evaluation of potential indoor air impact from sub-surface vapor migration.
