National Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) and Restoration Program
The National Resource Damage Assessment and Restoration Program is administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior. Its intent is to restore natural resources injured as a result of oil spills or hazardous substance releases into the environment. Alpha Analytical works with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, environmental consultants and environmental lawyers on these sites around the country. Much of this work involves working with unusual matrices that few environmental laboratories can handle. Consequently, Alpha has developed proprietary methods to analyze plant and animal tissues for various organic and inorganic contaminants. For example, we have analyzed mercury in tree rings in Florida, pesticides in bird eggs and eagle blood, and PCBs in whole body shrews.
